Yolanda WilliamsFounder/CEO
I created Dorothy’s Place as a dream that I once had about providing a safe and comfortable place for our children who are displaced and/or homeless. Dorothy’s Place is a haven where kids combine
stability with that sense of belonging. So I wanted to provide a facility for young people. This will be a full-time facility that will house our displaced teens providing counseling for all our residents as well as education. At the end of their journey, they will be able to go into the world educated, financially stable, and fully functioning adults. I lived a very hard life. I lived for a long time with the thought of not having anyone loving me and not feeling wanted. Fortunately, someone stepped into my life who taught me the meaning of hard work and determination and it was life-changing. From that point on I did not want any child to ever feel like they do not belong. So, I created Dorothy’s Place, a place where no child can feel how I felt and to know they are wanted, needed and they are a great addition to our world. |
Our Mission
Dorothy’s Place is a start-up organization with the sole aim of catering and providing shelter and more for young people between the age of 13-24 facing homelessness and human trafficking. We want to be there to always welcome them with unconditional love with our doors always opened and our services free of charge. We will be there to respond to their immediate needs while providing the support they require to reach their potential and their goal of independence and growth.
